Bis auf Weiteres steht Mac nicht zum decken zur Verfügung.
Nachdem Mac zwei Hündinnen gedeckt hat die beide leer geblieben sind, hat eine Untersuchung bei ihm ergeben, daß er im Moment nicht genug Samen produziert. Wir versuchen den Grund herauszufinden.

After he has bred two females who are both not pregnant, a check found out that he does not produce enough semen right now. We are currently trying to find out why.

Es haben insgesamt 6 Hunde aus Europa an den ASCA Stockdog Finals 2011 teilgenommen, davon stammen 3 von unseren Hunden ab. 2 davon haben stammen aus unserer Zucht (WTCH S Bar L Obi Wan RD DNA-VP & WTCH S Bar L Mohawk DNA-VP).
Einer ist eine Tochter (WTCH Las Encinas Mi Sombra DNA-VP) eines der ersten Rüden, die wir importiert haben, Dodger (Cut´n Loose Artful Dodger STDds DNA-VP).
Im Weiteren die Erfolge, die diese bei den Finals und Nationals in Wisconsin erzeilt haben.

Susanne and Mo waren sehr erfolgreich auf den Agilty Trials bei den Nationals 2011 in Wisconsin mit mehreren Siegen und Platzierungen.

Auf dem Pre-Trial der 2011 Nationals ereichten sie einen hervorragenden 3. Platz in Advanced Cattle

 

Wir sind sehr stolz, daß Solo´s Sohn Dude nahtlos an die Erfolge seines Vaters anknüpft. Dude und Natascha sind:

There have been altogether 6 dogs from europe in the ASCA Stockdog Finals 2011 and 3 of them are descendants from our dogs. Two of them we have bred (WTCH S Bar L Obi Wan RD DNA-VP & WTCH S Bar L Mohawk DNA-VP).
And one is a daughter (WTCH Las Encinas Mi Sombra DNA-VP) of one of the first males we had imported, Dodger (Cut´n Loose Artful Dodger STDds DNA-VP).
In the following, please read how they all did at the Finals and Nationals in Wisconsin.

Susanne and Mo were very successful in the Agility Trials at the ASCA Nationals 2011 in Wisconsin, with several wins and placings.

Die bislang bei Aussies eher unbekannte Krankheit CMR (Canine Multifocale Rethinoplasie) ist bei einem Hund, der ein Nachkomme von zwei Hunden aus unserer Zucht ist, vom Labor der Veterinärmedizinischen Universität Wien nachgewiesen worden. Diese Hunde sind Träger dieses Defekts. Es sind S Bar L Mohawk und S Bar L Yakima, beide im Besitz von Susanne Schwarzmann in Österreich. Eine Hündin aus dem Wurf dieser beiden ist an CMR erkrankt, weshalb wir darauf aufmerksam wurden. Wir sind im Prozess alle Verwandten dieser Hunde in unserem Besitz testen zu lassen, um erst mal einen Status Quo zu haben.
Sollten wir einen unserer Welpenkäufer der Verwandte der Hunde hat nicht informiert haben, so bitten wir dies zu entschuldigen und bitten weiterhin um Kontaktaufnahme mit uns.
Die Krankheit ist bislang beim Pyrenäen Berghund, Englisch- und Bullmastiff und Coton de Tulear aufgetreten. Es ist eine vererbbare Krankheit, die soweit bekannt, autosomal rezessiv weitergegeben wird. Sie ist also züchterisch so zu behandeln wir MDR1. Träger der Krankheit erkranken nicht. Nur wenn zwei Kopien vorliegen kommt die Krankheit bereits im Alter einiger Monate zum Ausbruch. Ein Hund der eine Kopie trägt wird nicht erkranken. Trotz der starken retinalen Veränderungen sind Einschränkungen im Sehvermögen der betroffenen Hunde nicht dokumentiert.

Optigen schreibt dazu: „Die Krankheit tritt in der Regel bei jungen Hunden vor dem 4. Monat auf, kann sich langsam weiterenwickeln, scheinbar abheilen oder auch auftreten und dann wieder verschwinden (...) Die meisten Hunde zeigen keine erkennbaren Probleme mit der Sicht (...) Und in fast allen Fällen verändert sich CMR mit der Zeit nicht signifikant.“

Panik ist nun sicher nicht angesagt. Wir nehmen es ernst, allerdings scheint es erst mal nicht schwierig in den Griff zu bekommen zu sein. Wir werden auch womöglich ein weiteres, unabhängiges Labor mit jeweils einem zweiten Test für jeden Hund beauftragen.
Nur um sicher zu gehen. Es soll ja schon vorgekommen sein daß Hunde von zwei Labors zwei unterschiedliche HSF4 Ergebnisse bekamen.
Wir werden an dieser Stelle weiter informieren.

The up to now in Australian Shepherds rather unknown disease CMR (Canine Multifocal Rethinoplasia) was diagnosed in a dog that is a descendant from two dogs we have bred. These dogs are S Bar L Mohawk and S Bar L Yakima, both owned by Susanne Schwarzmann in Austria. These dogs are, according to the Veterinärmedizinischen Universität Wien, carriers of the mutation. One female out of these dogs has the disease and thats why we became aware of the defect. We are in the process to have all relatives of these dogs tested for CMR to get a Status Quo.
In case we have forgotten to inform one of our puppy buyers who has relatives, we are sorry and we would like you to contact us please.
The disease was up to now known in Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, English- and Bullmastiffs and in Coton de Tulear. Its an inherited disease and its passed on autosomal recessive. This means, that there need to be two copies present in a dog for the disease to be diagnosed. A dog that has one copy will not get it. Therefore, breeding wise, it will be handled like MDR1. Although the retina will show some defects, there is no loss of vision reported.
Optigen says: „The disease generally develops in young dogs before 4 months and might progress slowly, might appear to heal, or might even appear and then go away again. Some dogs affected with CMR do not show clinical symptoms of disease until later in life. (...) Most dogs exhibit no noticeable problem with vision despite their abnormal appearing retinas. And in almost all cases, CMR does not progress significantly over time. The disease seems to have a consistent pattern among the breeds.“

So, there is no reason for panic. It seems not to be too difficult to get this under control and we are taking this serious. Maybe we will also do another, second testing with our dogs with another lab, just to make sure. (There have been cases before with two different HSF4 test results from two different labs before, for example.)
We will inform you here when we have new information.

According to the test done by Optigen, the result is: Nell +/+, Rufi +/- und Blue +/-.
